Things you may not know about Lunar New Year 2016

If Western countries have Christmas holiday then Eastern countries have Lunar New Year.

ASIAN PEOPLE HAVE VARIOUS WAYS TO CELEBRATE LUNAR NEW YEAR WHICH MAY VARY AMONG DIVERSE MEANS, LET TAKE AN OVERALL LOOK AT THIS SPECTACULAR CELEBRATION OF THE ASIANS.

Beside traditional celebrate, there are many and many customs that sound a bit strange and odd, let check it out.

  1. Lunar New Year is Lunar New Year, not Chinese New Year:

I find it quite irritating that Western people always consider all the Asian are Chinese, I mean, come on guys Asian includes more than 50 countries, which is also contain Russia and Isarel. Lunar New Year may not be widely celebrated in these two countries but not only the Chinese does, so Lunar New Year is a celebration in overall Asia, call that with the right name.

  1. Crazy transportation:

This may happen in China, but not applied in Hanoi Vietnam. Lunar New Year is the one and only time of the year that the transportation at its coolest. The streets are no longer covered with vehicles, fewer street vendor, Hanoi comes back to its very own way that has been buried under the rush of the city life. If you visit Hanoi in February, you will find this  is an extremely peaceful city in contrast with what the previous visitors have reviewed in the internet. Come to Hanoi at February, it’s the best time of the year. But I have to warn you first that finding a ticket to travel around Vietnam at this time will be a hard thing to do.

  1. Full of forbidden things:

Asian people have a notion that what you do at the beginning of the year will affect the luck of the rest of the year. Although this is just a ancient custom and no proof has ever been recorded that once you violated these regulars bad luck will become your best friend the following year, but it’s one in million things that make Lunar New Year special so people just following it regardless it’s nonsense. For example: you can’t not take out your trash in the new year because you may accidentally take out your New Year luck with them, or you can cut your hair or nails, you neither shouldn’t wear black clothes … Odd but interesting!

What is Vietnamese Lunar New Year

  1. Special dish must be served during the season:

Like you must have a big fat Turkey in your Thanks Giving, Lunar New Year holiday must be included some special dish, in Vietnam, you must never forget a couple of Chung cakes in your meal, like there is no Tet if you forget this special food, beside this cake is very delicious (but contain much calories too), so I can’t never miss this one during my holiday.

  1. Special flower:

The same meaning as Chung cake, when you see this flower being ride around the city in the basket of flower vendors, you know Tet has came to town. With different climate range for the South to North, of course there are 2 different types of flower for Tet. In the North with hotter weather than the South, Mai flower are popular, while the South is Peach blossoms.
